This gable-to-street Queen Anne cottage, with open Victorian porch is thought to have been built around 1875. First record of house occupation indicates this was the house for George Snipes, a tailor in Middletown for more than 30 years. He and his wife Margaret had seven children all of whom were born in Connecticut. It is also known that other members of the Snipes family lived on 126-128 Knowles Avenue with Asahel Deforest. Such records indicate that the Beman Triangle was a stable neighborhood with strong sense of community.
